 Configuring Outlook Express Mail and News

These instructions are to be used only after Ministry of Sound have registered you and have issued you with an account.

Before continuing you will need to know: your Ministry of Sound user login name* and your password. If you do not know any of these details then please contact Customer Services on 0870 909 8200 who will be able to advise you.

You are advised to read these instructions carefully before actually undertaking the following procedures.

When you first double click the Outlook Express icon a window will appear named "Browse for folder", please select the folder that you wish your mail to be stored in, we recommend that you select the default and click OK. If you have registered using our signup server all of the rest of your mail and news settings will be automatically configured for you. Allowing you to send/receive mail and news immediately.

Alternatively, if you have re-installed our software or manually registered an account then please follow the instructions below for configuring Outlook Express.

In order for the wizard to run correctly you must have configured your Ministry of Sound Internet connection beforehand. To do this double click on the Internet Explorer icon from your desktop. When Internet Explorer launches select Configure existing account and your connection will be configured automatically. You may be prompted for your Windows 95/98 CD-ROM during this process so make sure you have it available.

 Configuring Outlook Express using the setup wizard

 Stage 1: Configuring Outlook Express Mail

  1. Double click on the Outlook Express icon on the Desktop.

  2. A window will appear named "Browse for folder". Please select the folder that you wish to have your mail stored. We recommend that you select the default and just click on OK.

  3. A window will then appear named "Your Name". Please enter your real name in the "Display Name" box. Then click Next.

  4. A window will then appear named "Internet e-mail Address", please enter your e-mail address in the box provided. Then click Next.

    N.B. Customers should note that the e-mail address should take the form of the following: <USERID>@ministryofsound.net

  5. A window will then appear named "e-mail Server Names". The server names should be already entered for you. If you do not have entries for the server names they are as follows:

    "My incoming mail server is a POP3 server".
    "Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server" - mail.ministryofsound.net
    "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" - smtpmail.ministryofsound.net

    After the details are entered click on Next.

  6. A window will then appear named "Internet Mail Logon". Make sure "Log on using" is enabled. Within the box named "POP Account Name" please enter your <USERID>@ministryofsound.net. You will then need to enter your Ministry of Sound password in the box named "Password" (be sure to enter the password in the correct case). After this has been completed click Next.

  7. A window will appear called "Friendly Name". The name of our incoming mail server should already be entered into the box headed "Internet mail account name", so just click Next.

  8. A window will then appear named "Choose Connection Type". Make sure that the box headed Connect using my phone line is checked, then click Next.

  9. The next screen will appear named "Choose Modem", if you haven't selected what modem to use to dial. Ensure that the correct modem has been selected in the box, then click Next. If this screen is not displayed then please proceed to Step 10 below.

  10. A window will appear named "Dial-Up Connection". Make sure that Use an existing Dial-Up Connection is enabled. Then highlight MinistryofSound in the box beneath and click Next.

  11. Congratulations, you have now set up the e-mail facility within Outlook Express. Click on Finish. The Outlook Express Wizard will now prompt you to configure the News facility, please proceed to Stage 2.

 Stage 2: Configuring Outlook Express News

  1. The first screen that the Wizard produces is named "Your Name". Please enter your full name in the "Display Name" box, and then click Next.

  2. A window will then appear named "Internet News e-mail Address". Please enter your e-mail address in the box named " e-mail Address", and then click Next.

  3. A window will then appear named "Internet News Server Name". The box named "NNTP: News Server" should already have the name of our News Server entered in it. If you do not have an entry for the news server please enter: news.ministryofsound.net and then click on Next.

  4. A window will then appear called "Friendly Name". The box headed "Internet News Account Name" should already have the name of our current News Server entered in it, so just click Next.

  5. A window will then appear named "Choose Connection type". Ensure that the box headed Connect using my phone line is checked. Then click Next.

  6. The Wizard will then display a window named "Choose modem" if you haven't already selected the modem that you wish to use. Ensure that the correct modem is selected in the pull down window, then click Next. If this window is not displayed then please proceed to Step 7 below.

  7. A window will then appear named "Dial-Up Connection". Ensure that the box labeled Use an existing Dial-Up connection is checked, then highlight MinistryofSound and then click Next.

  8. Congratulations you have now configured Outlook Express News. Click on Finish to complete the set up process. The wizard has now finished, Outlook Express now prompts you to connect to download any new e-mail. It may bring up a connection screen headed "Select the connection you would like to dial:" if you would like to connect please ensure that MinistryofSound is selected from the drop down menu. Then click on OK. If you do not wish to connect at this point please select Cancel.

  9. If you click on OK to connect to MinistryofSound a window will be displayed named "Connect to" please make sure the "Phone" is set to <Default>. After the details have been entered click on OK. You will now dial into Ministry of Sound.
